Add related synonyms to the thesaurus

We want to be able to loosely associate two words, such as “add” and “create.”  So when clients search for the word "add," we want content that contains the word "create" to be boosted in search results. This would help us significantly improve search results.

Another example is “install” and “update.”  Some of our clients use these two words interchangeably. We can't make them synonyms, however, because they aren't exactly the same word. And we can't manually add loosely related words to all our content (we've been trying as a workaround for the fact that this feature doesn't exist).

Thank you!

Carolyn, you say you cannot add the words as synonyms....wondering if you've actually experimented and weren't pleased with the results?  I understand what you're going for...

if a query searches for "add", you also want articles containing "create" but maybe the term "create" only carries 75% of the weight of the term "add" (i.e. articles containing "add" are ranked higher that the ones containing "create").

But you say some customers use these terms interchangeably. If you haven't done so, I would experiment with adding these as synonyms and evaluating the results.

Hi Peter. Yes, we tried to make the terms synonyms carrying the same weight, which did not work. Is there a way to add terms as synonyms and adjust the weight of each related term? That's what we're looking for.
